TOWN HALL BUILDING COMMITTEE: Preliminary Report of Findings

It is my pleasure to welcome you to Litchfield’s Town website offering you the opportunity to learn about our town government and services that we provide our residents and visitors. Litchfield, a quintessential New England style Town with its traditional green and steeple church in the center of Town, is proud of its strong tradition of political activism and debate with roots in colonial America. Incorporated in 1719, Litchfield figured prominently in the history of the early years of the United States, when it was one of the most populated towns in the country and served as a crossroads for travelers journeying between New York and Boston.

Litchfield offers many activities in the summer months from the Gallery on the Green and our world renowned Litchfield Road Race in June to our Borough Days in September. Residents and visitors gather on the green each Wednesday evening to enjoy performances from local musicians at our Concert on the Green series. New to Litchfield, a farmer’s market each Saturday at our Center School parking lot, beginning late June through September, offering locally and regionally grown and produced goods for visitors to purchase.

I hope you take the time to visit Litchfield and take advantage of the many things our town has to offer — restaurants, shops, extensive open space, a lake and waterways for fishing, boating, swimming, and hiking trails ranging in distances from a short waterway boardwalk to a day-long trek.

I personally would like to extend an invitation to you to come and enjoy our wonderful town.

Leo Paul, Jr.
First Selectman
