The Highland Beach Police Department is staffed by twelve full time law enforcement personnel and one administrative assistant, and operates 24 hours per day, 7 days per week with at least 2 men per shift.
The Police Department operates under a Community Policing concept, and it’s primary function is to serve and protect the residents of the Town of Highland Beach, their guests, and their families. Most of the calls responded to are medical and alarm related, as the Town has an extremely low crime rate.
The Police Department is also responsible for enforcing all state, county and local laws and ordinances. All staff members are required to follow state guidelines for re-training and re-certification. In addition, the Town supports its officers who seek to further their own individual criminal justice backgrounds through education.
In addition to is vehicular patrol, the Highland Beach Police Department also utilizes bicycles to patrol the Town. Not only does this allow our officers to patrol in areas that are difficult to access with a car, but also gives them an opportunity to get "up close" to residents who are out and about, in keeping with the department's Community-Oriented policing.
